2-2. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES - GENERAL
a.
To ensure that the surveying instrument is ready for use at all times, deficiencies must be discov-
ered and corrected before serious damage or failure results. All deficiencies and shortcomings
will be recorded, together with corrective action taken, on DA Form 2404 (Equipment Inspection
Maintenance Worksheet) (see form on following page) at the earliest opportunity.
Before you operate: Always keep in mind the CAUTIONS and WARNINGS. This is for your protec-

tion. Perform your before (B) PMCS.
After you operate: Be sure to perform your after (A) PMCS.

If your equipment fails to operate: Troubleshoot with proper equipment. Report any deficiencies

using the proper forms. See DA PAM 738-750.

Perform operator's preventive maintenance checks and services in accordance with the instruc-
tions in the PMCS Table.
