MAINTENANCE ALLOCATION CHART
Section I.
INTRODUCTION

GENERAL.
a . T h i s section provides a general explanation of all maintenance
functions authorized at various maintenance levels.
b . T h e Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC) in section II desig-
n a t e s overall responsibility for the performance of maintenance func-
t i o n s on the identified end item or component.
T h e implementation of

s i s t e n t with the assigned maintenance functions.
c . S e c t i o n III lists the special tools and test equipment re-
quired for each maintenance function as referenced from section II.

MAINTENANCE FUNCTIONS.
Maintenance functions will be limited to and defined as follows:
a. Inspect.
T o determine the serviceability of an item by com-
paring its physical, mechanical and/or electrical characteristics with
e s t a b l i s h e d standards through examination.
b . Test. To verify serviceability and detect incipient failure
b y measuring the mechanical or electrical characteristics of an item and
c o m p a r i n g those characteristics with prescribed standards.
c . Service.
Operations required periodically to keep an item in
proper operating condition, i.e., to clean (decontaminate), to preserve,
to drain, to paint, or to replenish fuel, lubricants, hydraulic fluids,
or compressed air supplies.
d . Adjust.
T o maintain, within prescribed limits, by bringing
i n t o p r o p e r o r e x a c t p o s i t i o n , o r by setting the operating character-
istics to specified parameters.
e . Align.
T o adjust specified variable elements of an item to
